At the Library
by Jenisa Harris
We pack our wagons full of crafts, experiments, games and,of course, our favorite books and head over to our beautiful city park. Miss Jo and I are on the move to bring this year’s, “Reading Colors Your World” to our community. We’ve hosted our very first outdoor Summer Reading Club this June! It has been fun to see the kids in person and not over a computer screen; I truly missed connecting with my favorite library friends. It’s made Summer Reading extra special this year.
We were lucky to have some awesome family programs this year. Absolute Science wowed us with their bubble show. The excitement of 200 kids all trying to pop the bubbles was a sight to see! Magician Mikayla Oz mystified us with her magic show. Her bird, Bubbles, stole the show! Our last family event of the summer will be Mr. Taylor Sings on Tuesday, July 6 @ 10:00 at the square. This event is free for the entire family! No registration required.
While Summer Reading was on the move outside, books, boxes, shelves, tables, chairs, and librarians were on the move inside the library. After a large glass window fell from the second level to first level on an April weekend, all the carpets in the library needed to be replaced. We started the huge job of packing up the library and shifting boxes of books while still doing daily library tasks. In the past month the sound of tape guns, books being boxed, and librarians saying, “Let me think, where did those books get moved to?” became our new normal. Thank you for being patient as we get through this process. We are a small but mighty team, working hard to continue to provide great service despite the chaos. Hopefully by August we will get to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Project updates are posted on our library Facebook page and website.
