At the Library
by Tammy Valentine

Last week was a special week for the library, as we hosted a concert by Avita Duo. Katya Moeller and her mother, Dr. Knesia Nosikova. They are world class musicians who performed a violin and piano duet and have performed together for 12 years. The concert was standing room only.

The library also hosted the city employee luncheon which gave the city administration an opportunity to show appreciation for the many years of commitment and outstanding work of all our city workers. Our own Miss Jo received her 30-year plaque and is extremely humble about her years of service for the library. If you know Miss Jo, and I know you do, you know why we all adore her so much.

As for upcoming events at the library, we will continue the concert series by listening to some groovy 70s music with Quentin Jones performing Thursday, March 10th at 12pm.

Our Tuesday at 2 programs will include John Gowings, who will take us on a virtual walk through London March 1st. This event will have the audience in person and the presenter via ZOOM. Next will be our brand new Happy Ukulele Gathering with Clyde Pearce on March 8th. We will come together for a fun time playing the ukulele as a newbie or as an experienced musician. And finally, Tom Colthurst will present Between the Lines, a story of the accidental find, leading to connections within our own community, on March 22nd

We also have the AAUW bringing the one and only Mike Zahs to the library presenting the Women of Washington County on March 17th at 7pm.

Next month’s theme is London for the Book Ladies…and Gents Book Club, so if you would like to join us, call 653-2726 to sign up.
