Click on the following links to find excellent books to read. These include award winners, both new and old. Look around, and check with the library to make sure we have the books you want! (We are always willing to borrow from another library, or to purchase suggested books.)

Iowa Goldfinch Award: The purposes of the Goldfinch Award is: to encourage children to read more and better books; to discriminate in choosing worthwhile books; to provide an avenue for positive dialogue between teacher, parent, and children about books and authors; and to give recognition to those who write books for children.


ALA Notable Books: Each year the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) identifies the best of the best in children's books, recordings, videos, and computer software!

ALA Book and Media Awards: Lists of books which have won various awards from the American Library Association such as the Newberry and Caldecott awards

Children's Choices: 10,000 schoolchildren select their favorite books—an annual project of the International Reading Association and CBC.

Just One More Book!!: A podcast (audio recording) that discusses children’s books and offers weekly interviews with authors, literacy related discussions and audio reviews submitted by listeners.

Juvenile Series and Sequels: The Mid-Continent Public Library has a very extensive database you can search for series by subject, title, or author.

NPR's Top Ten Children's CDs of 2007 - From country to hip hop you can find a CD that fills any child's taste!
